Exploring every nook and cranny of the quantum field can bring into focus terms that are interpreted in a variety of ways. Terms like ‘quantum supremacy’ and ‘quantum advantage’ were first to hit the media, yet such pursuits did not necessarily equal real-life value-add application.

Enter ‘quantum utility’. As a former banker and consumer of technology, in defining the term my mind immediately went to ‘is the technology useful’? But that’s not the only way to think of this provocative term. So let’s explore some key ways to define, understand and leverage quantum utility.
