Commercialization & Security Reports Pile Up
for Quantum Tech
Waiting for the perfect quantum computer? Not a great strategy. Whether it's organizational security or competitive edge, recent reports from some key industry observers argue for immediacy in understanding the implications of quantum technologies. And then doing something about it. Here’s one list.

QED-C® State of the Global Quantum Industry 2026
"This report reflects the global quantum technology industry as of the end of 2025, and underscores that the industry is maturing and gaining strategic importance worldwide."
McKinsey & Company Quantum Technology Monitor 2026
"When it comes to quantum computing, innovation-driven companies can no longer afford to wait and see. Over 300 organizations including Airbus, Boehringer Ingelheim, E.ON, JPMorganChase, and Liberty Mutual Insurance are actively collaborating with quantum technology companies to solve business challenges. First movers are transitioning from pilots to applications that are embedded in end-to-end workflows. That’s a key finding from McKinsey’s fifth annual Quantum Technology Monitor."
Global Quantum Intelligence, LLC - Q-Day: Accelerated Timeline Across Wider Attack Surface - April 2026
"While many leading nation-states have set in motion plans for a transition to quantum safe alternatives by 2035, GQI assesses the timeline for ECC-256 Q-day for offline/retrospective attacks to be most likely 2032 with a reasonable worst case of just 3 years from today."
IBM, RIKEN and Cleveland Clinic - Practical Progress
"This is a meaningful step forward in the effort to simulate biologically relevant molecular systems with quantum computing. By combining IBM Quantum hardware with some of the world’s most powerful supercomputers, the team modeled protein complexes spanning more than 12,000 atoms — the largest known simulations of their kind to use quantum hardware." - Olivia Lanes, IBM
The benefit for organizations today is there is no shortage of information resources available, vast amount of investment, daily breakthroughs, and industry/academia collaborations. The challenges include talent availability, historically long duration of technical transformations, and lack of standards to rely upon. To name a few. It's a journey.
